How to park on a curb?

I'm a student driver and I'm having some trouble on how to park on a curb (not uphill nor downhill just a normal residential area curb). I know how to make my car completely parallel to the curb, but the issue is I can't really tell how far my right tires are from the curb. (Too far away from 18 inches or too close too the curb itself). Also my driving instructor also blinded the right view Mirror and say the "technique" is to look straight forward, but I still can't tell if I'm too far or too close. Any tips?

You only park on a curb in Britain where the road isn't wide enough and everyone does it. Put your wheel just on the curb and gently gun the motor, then back off as soon as the car mounts the curb so you don't shoot into the wall behind. Takes a bit of practice.

You don't park "on" a curb. You park next to the curb. Practise.

Your instructor is an idiot. That right side mirror is to use for parking.

I learned by using my mirrors In the old days everyone looked over their shoulders. That's the wrong way, but it works.

For your case, I would line up your driver's side with the driver's side of the car in front or back of you. You can do that by using the driver's side mirror and looking through the windshield and use the rear view to make sure you don't hit the car behind you.

You practice in an empty parking lot, and you get out and look, until you develop the line of sight over the hood that assures you you are parked correctly. [This used to be easier when there were hood ornaments on cars. Sort of like lining up a billiards shot.] I still get out and check and then reposition my vehicle sometimes.

Go to a vacant car park and practice using you mirror to reverse park. Take a couple of empty cardboard boxes along to aim at.

This driving instructor should be locked up, he is a crazy idiot, what do they put mirrors on a car for, shaving or putting on makeup ! A nutter.

Your driving instructor "blinded" your right view mirror Is probably one of the best instructors EVER! Nail it, ask questions, weave your way into the spot.

First, your arm. figure out that distance outside of a vehicle with your arm. Homework!

You don't park on curbs, period, so don't even try.

Ram into the curve and then gently drive off. When you feel the tires bump the road you know you are good.
