Radar detector (false) alarm sources along California Interstate 5?

I was traveling along Interstate 5 today between LA and the Bay Area today and was using my new Cobra XRS 9970G. Throughout the trip, the radar detector kept going off with X, Ka, and K alarms. When they went off I couldn't help but wonder, "Where are these signals coming from?" I looked around and didn't see any sources for what my radar detector was picking up. (One possible thought I had was maybe they're coming from the really tall cell phone towers that have the half-ball shaped antennas?) Other than the occasional highway patrol officers and and their vehicles, where are these alarm signals coming from? Or are they mostly false alarms?

A number of transmitting devices are also allowed to operate on the same frequencies used by police radar.

These are not considered false signals. For example, the automatic door openers commonly used by businesses are low powered X band transmitters.

They produce signals that appear legitimate to a radar detector and cause it to alarm.

Other sources produce "harmonics" signals, ghosts or look alike K or Ka band radar signals which make a radar detector give a false alert.

Also direct sunlight can cause this as well, the heat can set of false signals.

A radar detector options up something that makes use of radar. that contains automatic doorways at supermarkets. next time that happens, examine the place you're. in the journey that your close to a great shop, this is extra suitable than in all threat picking up the radar variety the doorways. The detector should not be spark off by ability of acceleration. this is not detected to the accelerator in any respect, and it would not examine action. And, FYI, 5-15 over the fee shrink is kinda going into loopy territory. decelerate.

Maybe the police are smarter than you think and have started leaving real operating (but unmanned) radars gun along the highway (attached to trees, telephone poles, or whatever) to trigger your radar detector, so that you start ignoring it (or turn off your radar detector) and get caught speeding where the police are.

Of course, you could still avoid a ticket by actually slowing down everywhere.

what your most likely picking up are security alarm signals, i dont on your model if you can do it but you can turn off certain bands which will cut down on the false alarms. x band is not really used by police anymore in pretty developed areas. one of the k bands is not used that much also not really sure which one. most law enforcement are switching over to lidar also and there is really no way to beat lidar

I'm not sure, but that's pretty scary thinking about it!

They should go get some real criminals, gotta be 1 or 2 in the LA area surely?
