A 1990 Nissan v6 is rated as a half ton (1000 lbs) pickup. This means that after driver and passenger are accounted for, it will easily handle another 1000 lbs of cargo. In my experience they will haul a lot more than that, but lets be safe. The V6 will definitely pull nicely whatever you manage to put in the bed. No worries up to 1000lbs.

600 lb is not much more than two of me. Seriously though, the lightest trucks I am aware of are 1/2 ton pickups, they come in small, medium, and large sizes but all sizes have that load capacity rating or greater. 1/2 ton = 1,000 lb -- but if you are cutting things close, include passenger weight in your calcuations to be safe. If there is a lighter truck out there, what the heck good is it?

you should be able to carry that weight all right. However, the handling with a heavy load will be different from your daily driving. Look up in your owner's manual what the weight ratio is for your vehicle as the weight capacity may vary significantly from a like-sized vehicle.
